The buzz that the movie’s trailer has already created in the Indian politics suggest that the aftermath of The Accidental Prime Minister’s release will have major potential in forming the opinion of masses in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

See for yourself and tell if you are not triggered by the trailer:

The movie deals with the story of the former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, during his tenure and is based on Sanjay Bora’s –who was Dr. Singh’s Media Advisor from 2004-2008 –novel of the same name.

As first dialogue in the trailer suggests, the Dr. was not flawed, he was a victim of a family drama. And unlike Mahabharata, this story has not two but only one family –the dynasty of Gandhis.

My analysis of the trailer says (and I have not read the novel), that the movie is going to be about the political events that took place in the interim, when Gandhi family was awaiting the right time for Rahul Gandhi to take over –right time with respect to Rahul Gandhi’s own political growth, as well as right time with respect to the country’s political condition and position.

So all in all, The Accidental Prime Minister reveals the political game played by the Congress Party (which is synonymous to the Gandhi family), during its ten-year long rule.

Coming to your question, obviously, there is BJP, ever ready to grab this golden chance. The movie’s trailer was shared on Twitter by BJP’s official account, and Congress did not take it very well. BJP captioned the trailer: “Riveting tale of how a family held the country to ransom for 10 long years.”

After the trailer was released, the news of the ban of The Accidental Prime Minister in Madhya Pradesh (where the Congress has recently won the Assembly Elections), was in the air. Congress MLA Randeep Singh Surjewala, however, settled all the dust with a tweet:

The Youth Congress also came forward for the interruption. It demanded a special screening of the movie for them before the official release, which is scheduled for 11th January 2019, just before the General Elections. The organization took back its demand later, though.

Politician and Poet, Kumar Vishwas also came forward to Tweet his views on the political wind-blown by the trailer in a sarcastic way:

While the political discourse is already stirring up, Dr. Manmohan Singh has not commented anything on it.

At last, I want to add that any criticism of India's first political organization, is bound to create an atmosphere of debate and affect opinions to a great extent.
